15 Minute Total Body Workout

Do you tell yourself that you’re too busy to workout? I used to do that too until I finally was fed up with my low energy, poor health and overall lack of self-esteem about how I looked. As a busy working mom who was “soft and fluffy” with about 20 pounds of baby weight to lose and just not feeling comfortable in my skin (that had been stretched and shifted after carrying and birthing 3- ten pound babies!),  I would “hide” in my RN scrubs or sweatpants at home to cover my insecurities.

Although I wasn’t happy, I had convinced myself for far too long that I didn’t have time to exercise and I couldn’t go to a gym because I didn’t have a babysitter for my 3 young children… Nor did I want to leave them because I already felt guilty leaving them when I worked 12 hour shifts at the hospital.

Any other moms out there have similar struggles?

That’s when I was introduced to a Beachbody home workout program called P90X. I was a little intimidated to begin this extreme program because I had NEVER lifted weights or done a pull-up in my life and hadn’t done a real sit up since high school gym class. Thankfully, I had a great support and accountability partner (my hubby) who kept me on track when I would start letting my excuses of being too tired creep in. Everyday like clockwork, we would push the coffee table out of the way, put the DVD in and do our workout with our kids running around us and sometimes jumping in with us!

We both got into AMAZING shape. I fell in LOVE with fitness. I lost my baby weight. I gained confidence. My self-esteem was improved. My health was better. My energy levels were higher. I got stronger physically and mentally…. ALL because of fitness!!

If you don’t want to do P90X and losing weight and getting fit seems overwhelming, this 15 Minute Total Body Workout routine is for you. This routine is for busy people who are ready to get fit and aren’t sure where to start. This is also a great workout to add into your current routine. I don’t know about you, but pregnancy really weakened my core and anything I can do to help strengthen that is not only beneficial for my posture and keeps aches and pains at bay, but has helped me lose that infamous mama pouch!  This simple 15 Minute Total Body Workout routine will have you losing body fat and boosting your self-esteem as you begin your get fit journey!

15 Minute Total Body Workout

What to Do: Complete three rounds with little to no rest after each move. Rest one minute after each round. Perform this routine 3 to 4 times weekly for optimal results.

Exercises:Workout of the Day

  1. 1 minute plank (on elbows as shown if your wrists are weak)
  2. Push-Ups (on toes or on knees)– 30 reps
  3. 1 minute plank
  4. Sit-ups (or crunches)- 30 reps
  5. 1 minute plank
  6. Squats – 30 reps
