Recently, while wasting time on Facebook, I came across a friend’s post where he posted a picture of his breakfast for the day. It’s a known fact that people who eat breakfast everyday are more likely to lose, and keep off, unwanted weight. So my friend posted a picture of the healthiest breakfast that someone can get, Shakeology. But below his picture someone posted a comment that got me thinking. The comment – “I can get the same thing from chocolate milk.”
Chocolate Milk vs Shakeology
So of course, after reading this comment, I turned into psycho researcher guy and started looking at the nutritional value of chocolate milk and how it might compare to Shakeology. To be honest, I’ve heard a lot of people compare a lot of different “health shakes” to Shakeology, but I’ve never heard anyone compare chocolate milk to Shakeology. So I was curious to say the least. Here’s what I found.
The Search for Facts Begins
As many of you know, FoodFacts.com is a site that I refer to a lot to find out the nutritional value of a particular product or food. From what I’ve seen, they are third-party, non-biased information. I’ve yet to notice them promoting a particular product or knocking any particular product. They just give the facts.
So I pulled up FoodFacts.com and typed in “chocolate milk”. As you can imagine, there were TONS of choices, 636 to be exact. So I decided to pull up one of the more popular and well know choices for chocolate milk, Dean’s Milk Chug Low Fat Chocolate Milk.
Nutritional Value of Chocolate Milk
After clicking on the Dean’s Chocolate Milk, the measuring gauge that they have on FoodFacts.com started to rise. There must have been a blip on my computer because it initially stopped at 14 and I thought “holy smokes!” But, it was just a blip and it continued to rise and finally ended at a score of 49. Not a good score. After viewing the score, I scrolled down to read the label of ingredients and the Nutrition Facts.
Chocolate Milk vs Shakeology
So after viewing the nutritional information for chocolate milk it was very clear that it doesn’t even come close to comparing to Shakeology. In fact, on the FoodFacts.com website they rated Shakeology a 97! What rates higher than Shakeology on FoodFacts.com? Broccoli. Yuck!
Comparing Shakeology – Final Thoughts
From the research that I have done, which is extensive to say the least, I have yet to find anything that comes close to the nutritional value of Shakeology. You just can’t pack all of those healthy ingredients into another shake. (that actually tastes amazing!)
If you’re looking for something that will help curb your cravings, help you lose weight and give you the nutritional value of over 70 ingredients from all across the world then I highly encourage you to check out Shakeology.
