Shaun T’s Ten Tips to Get Shredded

If you haven’t heard the news yet, Beachbody has just released Shaun T’s newest creation – Insanity : The Asylum.

If you’ve done, or even seen, Shaun T in the original Insanity, you know that he is pretty darn ripped in the those workouts. Well, compared to how he looks in The Asylum, he was a fat guy in Insanity. ┬áThink it’s impossible for Shaun T to get even leaner? Wondering how he did it? Here are Shaun’s 10 tips to getting absolutely shredded.

Shaun T’s Tips to Get Ripped

1. Eat Frequentlyinsanity asylum nutrition

Most people are under the misconception that to lose weight and get lean you have to eat less. The key is to eat smaller meals more often. You should be eating every 2-3 hours. Shaun T recommends eating 5-6 meals per day to keep the metabolism firing on all cylinders.

2. Go Light at Night

To get a competitive advantage, Shaun T recommends starting your day with your largest meal. As you go through your day, progressively make your meals smaller so that your last meal is your lightest and smallest.

3. Limit Your Portions

Shaun T does not believe in limiting calories. He does, however, watch his portions. Eating more often keeps your metabolism going but when you eat often, you must watch your portions.

4. Eat Lean

In Shaun T’s 14 day plan to get ripped, the meals will have you eating clean. And eating clean is the key to getting lean and mean. There are a bunch of great recipes that are not only tasty but are super healthy for you.

5. Carbs are Cool

One of the great myths that people trying to get in shape attempt to follow is to eliminate carbs. There is no way that anyone could make it through a workout like P90X, Insanity or The Asylum with zero carbs. To get ripped, Shaun T recommends eating your carbs early in the day and to stick to whole grains rather than white carbs.

6. Avoid Dairy

Shaun T avoids cheese and dairy. Try some alternatives like rice milk, almond milk or coconut milk.

7. Hydrate

It is extremely important to stay hydrated. You should be getting a minimum of 64 oz of water per day. Coffee, tea, juice or soda do not count towards your daily water requirements.

8. Limit Alcohol

Shaun T likes to enjoy life and will occasionally have a glass of red wine with dinner. But he limits his consumption. Infrequency and moderation is key with alcohol.

9. Don’t Fear Fat

Were not talking about donuts, butter and other things high in saturated fat. We’re talking about the “good” fats like avocados and nuts. They are filled with monounsaturated fats, are tasty, satisfying, and will help you get that 6-pack.

10. Supplements

Results and Recovery Formula is critical to having success with an intense program like The Asylum. Make sure you have yours immediately after your workout to refuel your body.
